Long swords ilvl 24 or lower (A1-3 essentially in normal) will only get 3 sockets from Larzuk, which is because items only get the max for their ilvl, and for Long swords that means 3/4/4 is the max available for ilvls 1-24, 24-40, 41+ A long sword from A2 normal will never ever get 4 sockets from Larzuk. Items in Normal can only be generated with 3 sockets, in NM with 4 sockets. The quest is the only time that the Ilvl rules are bypassed. my last example was a long sword from act 2 normal this ladder, socket quest gave it 4 sockets. That and I've done it dozens of times with long swords from normal, and it works fine. If you head over to the Arreat summit and look up long swords, you'll see that they have 4 sockets max. the socket quest bypasses Ilvl rules and gives max sockets allowable for the item. I do apologize if my info was misleading at first, I was simply going off of what I knew, and experience. don't know that one tho, so make sure you find out before doing so. if it's based on your clvl then purchasing a long sword post lvl 25 will net you a 4 socket sword. i don't have info yet on wht the Ilvl of an item is when purchased. I've never had it happen, but perhaps that's due to the long swords I've used in the past. From time to time, it would also say Mooooooo. Sometimes, you would also get a message that notified you that Gem Activated. When you clicked on it, it would change color. It was placed between the game and chat windows.
So it is possible to get a long sword with only 3 sockets off the quest. The Chat Gem was a sort of Easter Egg in the original Diablo 2. the first lvl 41 area is tower cellar level 4 in act 1 nightmare, so any crystal sword that drops off of areas higher then that will yield 6 sockets. everything past that is higher, so any sword that drops in those areas will net you 4 sockets. The lowest area to have monsters of mlvl 26 or greater is durance of hate lvl 3 (mephs area) in normal. the sockets are as follows for specific Ilvl categories: Long swords are minimum mlvl 20, crystal swords mlvl 11. basically, the sockets that are available for an item are not dependent on the act they drop in, but the Ilvl of the item, which is based on the Mlvl of the mob that drops it. After that, it took me 2 tries to get the 4 slotted crystal sword I wanted.Well, I decided to do some research since I was worried about the outcome. This makes your chances of getting the needed sword much higher (50% exactly and if you use the higher level swords it becomes 1 out of 6). The sword part is crucial cause those swords fit the item level requirement and they can get 4 slots max. Then I farmed crystal swords on normal difficulty Cow level. I farmed required runes in act 1 of nightmare difficulty, picked up enough amethysts to combine 2 perfect ones. I used the cube recipe described in my previous edit.
Will describe my solution for anyone googling this in the future. Is it worth trying to roll for it using low-level swords? I've just finished normal difficulty and I can go to Hell and farm runes in act 1, I can also farm few swords on normal cow level.Įdit 2: Problem solved. Is there any place to try to farm 4-slotted sword? Any tips would be much appreciated. I used my Larzuk's quest on the crystal sword, but I didn't know about the item lvl requirements and ended up getting 6 slotted sword.
